La Crescenta Monarchs 11U baseball team hosted the second annual Battle of the Foothills baseball tournament at Montrose Park July 12-13. There were total of nine teams participating in two age divisions. La Crescenta 9UB team was the first seed after Saturday pool play, having defeated Mid-Valley All-Stars Wild Dogs and Wilshire Warriors.
In their first game of Sunday bracket play, they defeated Crescenta Valley Falcons to advance to the championship game. They faced the second seed Wilshire Warriors, who came up on top in the rematch.
Coaches were Lane Shepherd, Dave Morrissey and Dave Hardy.
La Crescenta 10U team had similar results as the 9UB team, advancing to the Sunday championship game as the first seed after defeating Cheviot Sharks, Burbank Bums and Chatsworth. They faced the second seed Burbank Bums in the championship game and also lost the rematch.
