The gates are open. After months of hard work to clear a slide from a winter storm, pave the highway shoulder and install a rock fence, Caltrans has officially opened State Route 2, Angeles Crest Highway, to motorists and cyclists between Mt. Wilson/Red Box Road and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road. Expect intermittent closures, half-day closures or traffic control in coming weeks to complete the remaining work.
