Smoke in the air, again

A Los Angeles County fire fighter was transported to the hospital with a back injury he sustained during a Pasadena residential fire on Wednesday.

Crescenta Valley and La Cañada residents may have noticed a dark plume of smoke rising in the north east about noon on Wednesday. Although it may have looked like another brush fire, the smoke was from a single level, four bedroom house fire near the Eaton Canyon Golf Course in Pasadena.

“With the heavy smoke we have been getting a lot of calls from worried [residents]. There is a more heightened awareness since the Station Fire,” said Lisa Berberian, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Fire Department.

The call came into the Pasadena station at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The resident of the home was in the shower at the time of the fire, but made it out without injury, Berberian said.
