CVCA Meets Tonight
The Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting tonight, Thursday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library community room.
The CVCA is a cross-jurisdictional, volunteer organization that encourages collaboration between community groups so that the Crescenta Valley can be represented with one voice. All are invited to the meeting.

13th Armenian Cultural & Food Festival
The Armenian Relief Society (ARS) of Western USA will be holding its 13th Armenian Cultural & Food Festival featuring live entertainment, vendor booths, exhibits, children’s games, ethnic food and pastries, popular singers, dance groups and more.
It will be on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 1 p.m. to midnight and Sunday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Glendale Civic Auditorium, 1401 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale.
Admission is $3 per person (children 10 years and under are free).

 

USAR CA-TF2 Swiftwater Team Returns to California
The Los Angeles County Fire Dept.’s Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) California Task Force-2 (CA-TF2) swiftwater team has returned home, following a 14-day deployment to the Raleigh area of North Carolina in response to Hurricane Florence.
On Sept. 10, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requested one CA-TF2 16-member swiftwater team and an incident support team member, to assist with water- and land-based rescues, ground surveillance and community outreach. While patrolling neighborhoods in Cumberland County on Sept. 16, swiftwater team members successfully rescued one patient from a nearly submerged SUV.

 

Town Hall Meeting
Republican state candidates Jessica Martinez (District 57 of State Assembly), Mark Reed (30th Congressional District), and Johnny Nalbandian (28th Congressional District) will be taking part in a town hall discussion. “Let’s Talk Family and Communities” is the topic they will address at the Oct. 10 meeting being held at Fuji Seafood Buffet, 300 Harvey Dr. in Glendale from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For those who want to purchase dinner, the cost is $18.99.

 

Nominations for Women in Business Awards
The office of State Senator Anthony Portantino is accepting nominations for 2018 Women in Business Awards.
The Awards honor local women whose exceptional abilities have contributed to the economic vitality and diversity of the 25th Senate District.
Nominees must live or work in the 25th Senate District. Nominations may be made by individuals, businesses or organizations. Selection of awardees will be based on the category descriptions. All nominations must be accompanied by a 500-word description of the nominee’s accomplishments and explanation of why the nominee is deserving of the award, specifically addressing how she has demonstrated leadership in her professional field and her community.
