Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be tending to native plants, removing invasive plants and doing some light trail maintenance.
Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Skate Jam on Saturday
LA County Dept. of Parks and Recreation is hosting Skate Jam on Saturday, Sept. 8 at CV Skate Park. Pre-registration begins at 10 a.m.; events starts at 11 a.m. Open to all ages; helmets and pads are mandatory.
Crescenta Valley Skate Park is located at 3949 Honolulu Ave. in La Crescenta.

 

Business Expo Coming Up
All are invited to the Foothills Community 18th Annual Business Expo hosted by the Crescenta Valley, Montrose-Verdugo City and La Cañada Flintridge chambers of commerce. It will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. Free admission.
Held at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital fourth floor council rooms, 1812 Verdugo Blvd., Glendale.
Food samples and business information will be available plus document shredding will be done on-site sponsored by SCORE of Greater Los Angeles. (Limit of 10 boxes of documents to be shredded.)

 

Donations Halted for Glendale Library
The Friends of the Glendale Library will not accept donations of used books and other materials after Sept. 1 due to a backlog of donated materials. Any used book donations can be brought to other local nonprofits, such as Goodwill or Salvation Army.
The Friends are having a loading dock sale on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Downtown Central Library Loading Dock, 222 E. Harvard St., and outside at the Central Park Paseo next door to the Museum of Neon Art.
For music and art lovers, the Associates of Brand Library Art & Music Sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Brand Library & Art Center, 1601 W. Mountain St. in Glendale.

 

Kases For Kids
Crescenta-Cañada Lions Club is holding it annual Kases for Kids on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members are collecting small suitcases and backpacks that are in good condition; a gift of toiletry item or school supplies would also be appreciated. These items will be given to a child in foster care.

Movie Nights Coming
The Montrose Shopping Park Assn. presents the 9th Annual Montrose Film Festival on Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Andersen’s Pet Shop parking lot, just west of the shop, 2224 Honolulu Ave.
Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with live bands followed by cartoons at 8:10 p.m. and feature film at 8:25 p.m. On Friday, “Ferdinand” will be screened. On Saturday, “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be shown.
This is a free event.
