Warning of Scams Issued by CV Sheriff’s Station

Numerous law enforcement agencies have been made aware of a person calling and stating s/he is a detective from their station. The imposter tells the resident there is a warrant and the resident needs to pay a sum of money to avoid being arrested.

While the CV Sheriff’s Station is not aware of anyone posing as a station detective, station personnel wanted the public to know these calls are a scam. Neither the CVSS nor any other law enforcement agency would request a payment over the phone to void an arrest warrant. Residents are warned to never give personal information, credit card number/s, or banking information over the phone unless the identity of the caller has been verified.

If someone calls and states s/he is a deputy from the CV Sheriff’s Station and there are any doubts, please call the station directly at (818) 248-3464 to verify.
