CV Chamber Seeking Banquet Nominations
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce Recognition Banquet, held in the fall, honors individuals, organizations and businesses that have made a difference in the community including contributions to the business environment, exceptional achievement or service to the community, and outstanding social, civic or educational leadership.

Nominations are sought for man of the year, woman of the year, business of the year, organization of the year, volunteer of the year, educator of the year and beautification award. Also recognized will be student of the year and public safety officers from the California Highway Patrol, L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. and Fire Dept., and Glendale Police Dept. The recipients will be recognized at an annual dinner banquet. Nomination deadline is Aug. 15.

Film Noir Night at Alex
In celebration of its 20th year, the Alex Film Society is presenting a “double dose of noir” on Saturday night.

“Gun Crazy” and “The Lineup” are scheduled to be screened. Film Noir-ish raffle baskets will be available. Special guest is Alan K. Rode from the Film Noir Foundation.

All movie and raffle tickets purchased support the Alex Film Society – a non-profit arts organization.

General admission tickets are $15; seniors/students/kids are $11; Alex Film Society members are $10 (join at the box office with cash or check and save immediately on admission).
