Summer Swim Season Opens
The City of Los Angeles, Dept. of Recreation of Parks opened Summer Swim Season at Hansen Dam Aquatic Center on Saturday.

The 1.5-acre swim lake is open weekends until Sunday, June 15 when it will be open seven days a week. Hours of operation at the aquatic center will be 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Each child under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult; each adult may escort only one child under 7. The swim lake features two water slides, a sand volleyball court and a grass picnic area.

Arts & Crafts Festival
The 31st Annual Arts & Crafts Festival takes place this weekend along the 2100-2400 blocks of Honolulu Avenue in Montrose. There is no cost to attend.

Over 300 vendors and an international food court plus food trucks and an enhanced kid zone are highlights of the two-day event. Hours on Saturday are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Elections on Tuesday
The primary election is on Tuesday, June 3. Voters will cast ballots on two propositions in addition to candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, controller, treasurer, attorney general, insurance commissioner, board of equalization and superintendent of public instruction.

Those residing in the City of Glendale will also vote on a candidate to fill the vacant seat on the Glendale City Council.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting Planned
A neighborhood watch meeting is being held in the 2700 block of Frances Avenue (off La Crescenta Avenue) on Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Speakers include Dep. Jorge Valdivia of the CV Sheriff’s Station who will speak on crime prevention, Paul and Lisa Dutton who will offer information on earthquake preparedness and Rene Ramirez who will provide details on home security.
