“Breakfast With Tiffany” was served Sunday at the Ice House in Pasadena. Each seat (140) in its Legendary Room was filled with fans of Tiffany Haddish who couldn’t resist buying a $40 ticket for breakfast, watch Haddish riff on stage, get her just-released book (for free), have her sign it and ask her any question. 

Haddish is the first Black comedian to host “Saturday Night Live” and Shark Week. She was the star of the comedy “Girls Trip” and released a hit stand-up special with Netflix. But before those successes was a childhood spent in the foster care system and a father who was out of her life for two decades.  

An author of two previous books, Haddish’s new book, I Curse You With Joy, was the free book given out at the Ice House event. It’s a book of personal essays that delves into the highs and lows of her life. 

Haddish donates money to charities involving children. Her mission is to allow children to live in a nurturing environment that she never had. Through her She Ready Foundation, Haddish donates luggage to foster youth and assists them with housing, internships and life skills.

At the Ice House, Haddish shared with her fans, “Every morning I look in the mirror, and I say ‘I love you, I approve of you.’”
