The “Music In A Day!” live workshop, introducing the revolutionary Music Decoding System, will be presented to the public for the first time today, Thursday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in La

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to identify, explain and demonstrate the basic building blocks of reading music and will compose an original piece of music. This new series will mark the beginning of the 18th consecutive year of classes for non-musicians and musicians alike and explores the histories of composers and their music. NINTH SEASON FOR SALON DE MUSIQUES

EVOLUTION OF THE
LOS ANGELES SKYLINE
Little Landers Historical Society will next host Dave McMenamin at its monthly second Saturday historical educational program on Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Bolton Hall. The program will explain the elements and major events that influenced the development of the LA Skyline since 1900. Why do older LA skyscrapers have flat tops? What is happening to older buildings in Los Angeles? These and other questions will be answered.
McMenamin is a native Angelino and lifelong resident of the city, residing in La Crescenta and Shadow Hills for the past 33 years. He has a degree in mathematics from Occidental College and a masters and Ph.D in economics from UCLA. He is currently director of Education for Las Angelitas and works with the Los Angeles Conservancy.

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP AT Y
The Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA, in partnership with the La Leche League, is hosting a monthly lactation and infant development support group to help support new mothers. This monthly group meets on the third Friday of each month from noon-1 p.m. This group is free and open to the community and will answer all breastfeeding-related questions that new mothers may have.
The Y is also offering a Mindful Parenting Course designed to help parents connect to their children and raise them to thrive.
