Crescenta Valley Weekly hosted its first-ever business mixer, a dual event with the CV and Montrose-Verdugo City chambers of commerce, on Sept. 12, which coincided with the celebration of the newspaper’s 10th anniversary.

“What a joy for all of us to celebrate and honor [publisher] Robin Goldsworthy and the CV Weekly for 10 years of publication,” said Victoria Malone, executive director of Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. “The dual chamber mixer [reflected the] joint effort on participation, execution and the fun for the evening. It was a great gathering to do what our community does so well – support the efforts of those who do good things for this community.”

Dr. JD Speas of Crescenta Cañada Pet oversaw the mixer raffle.

An estimated 65-70 people attended the Hawaiian themed mixer including dignitaries from the offices of Rep. Adam Schiff, State Senator Anthony Portantino and Assemblymember Laura Friedman. Food was catered by Gourmet a go go, Portos Bakery and Gail Feeds.

“The Sept. 12 dual chamber business mixer, hosted by Crescenta Valley Weekly, was perhaps the most exciting, fun and enjoyable mixer in many years. Attendance was terrific, featuring our new CV Sheriff’s Station Captain Todd Deeds and a surprise visit by the Glendale Chief of Police Carl Povilaitis. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Robin by the offices of Congressman Adam Schiff, State Senator Anthony Portantino and Assemblymember Laura Friedman as well as both the Crescenta Valley Chamber and the Montrose Verdugo City Chamber,” said Mike Riley, president of the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Our hope is that this mixer will become an annual event. Many thanks to the Crescenta Valley Weekly. Keep up the great work. The Valley needs you!”
