LCFOG Names Keynote Speaker For Luncheon

La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild (LCFOG) members are preparing for their 62nd annual Book and Author Luncheon to be held this year at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The annual event will benefit the Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) in downtown Los Angeles. Three books will be for sale; two authors will present a brief summary of their books but the third author of the limited edition cookbook will not be in attendance.

Shirley Parry will be the keynote speaker. Parry was born in Cañada and lives in California. She is a member of the 777 Marathon Club and has participated in the 2019 World Marathon Challenge, running seven marathons in seven days on each of seven continents.

The program also includes speakers from Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC), a silent auction and live auction presented by Mary Beth Perrine, assistant vice president of Development and Outreach at OIC. There will also be a surprise bonus board, entertainment and lunch.

The Guild raises funds to support the mission of OIC, which is to diagnose and treat any child with an orthopaedic condition regardless of insurance coverage or the financial status of the parents. OIC has world-class renowned physicians and orthopaedic surgeons who are available to help children in the newly renovated Urgent Care Center or surgery suites or in one of several specialized clinics.

Any woman interested in being part of the dedicated LCFOG organization can contact Jeanne Long at (818) 640-9106 to receive an invitation to attend the next LCFOG meeting. Meetings are held monthly in members’ homes.

For questions regarding receiving an invitation to the Book and Author Luncheon, contact Marianne Jennings at (818)-398-7323. Those unable to attend but would like to assist OIC in caring for children with orthopaedic conditions, please send donation to La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild, P.O. Box 777, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91012-0777.

The Book and Author Luncheon is held only once a year and is one of the major fundraisers for LCFOG. Tickets are not available at the door and space is limited, so call soon.
