Foothill Municipal Water District (Foothill MWD or District) announced that it is the receipt of the La Cañada Valley Beautiful Award for the district’s demonstration garden.  Foothill MWD’s demonstration garden is located in front of the district’s main office and Operations Center at 4536 Hampton Road, La Cañada Flintridge.

La Cañada Valley Beautiful periodically issues the award to honor local landscapes of high aesthetic value. The non-profit citizen organization is dedicated to landscape beautification and conservation of public venues in the City of La Cañada Flintridge.

The district’s demonstration garden features drought-tolerant and California native plants that require less water.

“We are very pleased that La Cañada Valley Beautiful has recognized the district’s demonstration garden. Our Mediterranean climate offers a great opportunity to use long established landscaping choices to reduce water use and still create a comfortable retreat,” said General Manager Nina Jazmadarian.

Foothill MWD currently offers turf removal rebates that will assist residents in taking the next step to install drought-tolerant landscapes. Rebates of $1 for every square foot of turf removed are currently available. Residents and businesses must prequalify for the rebate prior to starting any work.
