Frances Boukidis of La Crescenta is a recent graduate of Northern Illinois University (NIU). Boukidis graduated with a BA degree. Graduate degrees were conferred Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014. Undergraduate degrees were conferred Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014.
Chartered in 1895, NIU first opened its doors as the Northern Illinois State Normal School in 1899 as a teachers college. The university has grown since into a world-class, research-focused public institution that attracts students from across Illinois, the country and the world.

Yeon Joo Hong has been named to the fall 2014 dean’s list at St. Bonaventure University. The biology major is from La Cañada.

Abigail Roberts of Tujunga was named to the dean’s list at Simpson University for the fall 2014 semester. Roberts is majoring in liberal studies. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
Simpson University in Redding, California was founded in 1921 and has an undergraduate enrollment of more than 750 students and offers degrees in 27 majors.

Symeon E Stefan of La Cañada was named to the Miami University fall 2014 president’s list.
Miami University students who are ranked in the top 3% of undergraduate students within each division for first semester 2014-15 have been named to the president’s list recognizing academic excellence.
Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio, offering more than 120 degree programs in humanities, science, engineering, business, education and fine arts.

Caroline Fontes, class of 2017 from La Cañada and a graduate of La Cañada High School, is a member of the Denison University women’s track & field team. Denison will host the Bob Shannon Invitational, its second of three home meets this season, on Feb. 7 at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville, Ohio. Cole Hutter of Sunland earned a degree from Nazareth College in December. Hutter received a BS in information technology. The graduates can choose to walk with the class of 2015 during May commencement exercises at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.

Gracen Hansen of Glendale excelled during the fall 2014 semester achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the dean’s list at Hofstra University.

Springfield College School of Human Services Southern California recognizes dean’s list students for the 2014 fall semester including Zhaklin Shaumyan of Tujunga and Marie Sherafatian of Glendale.
Criteria for selection to the dean’s list includes the student having completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the semester, exclusive of “P” grades; the student must not have any incompletes, missing grades or “CP”s in the designated semester; the student must have a minimum semester grade point average of 3.500 for the semester; and the student must not have been barred from the dean’s list due to a disciplinary action.
