Grief Recovery Seminar
A six week grief seminar begins on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 3 p.m. to  4:15 p.m. at First Baptist Church at La Crescenta. It is free and open to all. Sessions will be led by Rev. Dr. Peter Hintzolglou.

‘Living Proof Live Simulcast’ at Summit Church
LifeWay Christian Resources is slated to simulcast well-known Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore live from Wichita, Kansas on Sept. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Summit Christian Church is a host location for the foothills area. Tickets are $15 and cover one full day of music and worship; sessions led by Beth Moore; and opportunities for fellowship with other women from the Tujunga community.

Chili Cook-Off and Classic Car Night
Lake Avenue Church will host its Sixth Annual Chili Cook-Off and Classic Car Night on Friday, Aug. 28 at 6 pm. The church’s west parking lot will be transformed into a car enthusiast’s paradise of classic, vintage, exotic and custom cars and motorcycles, along with classic rock played by a live band. Also, guests can sample dozens of different chilies – from mild to wild – along with hotdogs and hamburgers.

Classes at CSL
On Sunday, Aug. 30 at the 10 a.m. celebration service the Center for Spiritual Living-La Crescenta will feature guest speaker Felicia Searcy and guest musician artist Annie Sims. This is followed by afternoon workshop “Fantasy to Fact: The Fundamental Formula to Creating the Life of Your Dreams,” from noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $25.

Dr. Marc Anthony’s Accelerate Your Health classes are in September on Wednesdays on Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30.

Tuesday Table Talk  
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Bethel Church will offer a showing of the film “McFarland, USA” (rated PG).

Track coach Jim White’s search for work leads him to a high school in California’s Central Valley with a largely Latino student body. After White and his determined athletes establish a bond of trust, remarkable achievements are on the horizon.
