Vehicle stolen from Santa Carlotta driveway

By Mary O’KEEFE

A go-kart vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a home in the 3500 block of Santa Carlotta Street in La Crescenta overnight between Feb. 4 and 5.

“It was in our driveway which goes down hill. We have a boat that was backed up to our garage and the go-kart was behind that,” said Will Richards, the 17-year-old owner of the vehicle.

He has had the go-kart for a while and usually parked it at his grandparent’s home.

“I took it to the desert and had brought it home to do some work on it,” he said. “There was no room in our garage.”

Richards feels the theft was planned. No one in the home heard the engine start so he said he was fairly certain it had to be lifted from its location.

“That would take at least two people. I really think it had to be planned,” he said.

Although he was upset about the theft it was not that surprising; two weeks ago his father’s car was stolen from their home.

Richards and his dad had worked on the vehicle over many years and beyond the fact that it was a good vehicle it had a lot of sentimental value.

“We are offering a reward for anyone who can help us find [the go-kart], “ he said.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Glendale Police Department at (818) 548- 4840.
