Dear Friends,
As the sun set on 2020, I know many of us breathed a sigh of relief that we could close this chapter. Our families, friends, neighbors and community members have experienced immeasurable losses last year – of routines, of special events, like CVTC pancake breakfast, Hometown Country Fair, Oktoberfest, Christmas tree lighting, and school schedules, businesses and, for some, their loved ones who are gone too soon.
Despite all hardships, we have also seen the best in one another. Healthcare workers have brought healing to thousands of patients. Volunteers have donated goods to make sure their family members and neighbors had enough to eat. Customers kept their favorite local spots stay afloat by ordering takeout and delivery. People experiencing homelessness were placed in permanent housing. Youth had renewed chances to thrive with extra resources available.
We should all acknowledge the heavy weight of the year 2020, but we have an opportunity to also recognize how much good was done, too. As we welcome 2021, we can look toward the future knowing there are opportunities for restoration and growth. This past year was proof that, when we work together, there is hope and healing on the horizon. Tensions are high these days, but what we must remember is that we are all human. We are all in this together! Thank you for doing your part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and protecting your family, friends, neighbors and community.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge CVTC outgoing council members Charles Beatty and Daniel Kim for their hard work to make our community a better place in which to live. Charles Beatty was a long-time member of CVTC and we wish him well.
Congratulation to the new Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce board members!
And lastly, do not forget our monthly Town Council meetings. For those who have an interest in attending and participating in our virtual meetings and want to submit comments and/or questions, we encourage you to please contact CVTC at contact@thecvcouncil.com.
Stay healthy, stay safe and stay home … and do not forget to get your flu shot.
