Community Christian Church of the Foothills’ gift to the community is its Drive Thru Nativity scene that features live actors, live animals and even angels during a two-day presentation that is free to the community.

“People can come and enjoy that first Christmas night,” said Community Christian Church of the Foothills pastor Bob Snyder.

The church has held this event for the past 15 years with estimates of between 400 and 500 cars showing up each night with more than 1,000 total visitors.

The free Drive Thru Nativity brings new visitors every year as well as many returning guests and has become a tradition for the old and young.

“People all comment how much they appreciate us having it and putting it on,” Snyder said. “Every year there are people who go through and they’re in tears [by the end]. They say it’s such a blessing and they enjoy that they can bring their families and take a moment to remember the reason for the season.”

Community Christian Church of the Foothills’ Drive Thru Nativity scene is from Dec. 12 to Dec. 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The church is located at 10193 Tujunga Canyon Blvd., Tujunga.
