Question: With all of the uncertainty and chaos in the world today, I sometimes get fearful about our future, and my faith flies out the window. What can I do to strengthen my sense of faith in these times? – Fingers Crossed in Faith
Dear Faithful,
I’m hoping to uncross your fingers … because I know that within each of us there is the powerful, unchanging seed of faith that is always there.
Sometimes in this journey of life, filled with day-to-day uncertainties and challenges, it feels like there is only hopelessness and darkness and we feel like we have lost our faith in Life’s Good, in God, in humanity. And it is times like this that faith can and must come alive. We just have to be aware that there is another way to look at things. Faith is the anchor of light in the storm of darkness. We have a choice: Do you want to give your fears the power? Or do you want to give your faith the power? Faith is fueled by love and trust and firm belief. It is God energy in action.
There is always good midst the uncertainty and the chaos. We know that the sun comes up every day; even when it’s cloudy the sun is behind the clouds. And we always see some portion of the moon at night; even when it’s cloudy, the moon is always there. The earth is the center [and is] always turning … to bring the sun or the moon into our view.
Imagine that your heart, your soul, is the center of your being and your heart and soul is filled with love and light – God energy. And God is always working in divine order and divine right action.
I personally go to that thought of divine right action and divine order when I’m getting myself in a space of fear and uncertainty. It reminds me that I don’t have to know the outcome – the why, the how. I just know that God has it covered, got my back, and it recharges my faith. And I must remember to make my light brighter and stronger to overcome the darkness, the fear. It’s my choice and I have the power within me to use it for good.
I recently saw a new movie, “The AI Doc … Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist.” It’s about AI [artificial intelligence] and the pros and cons of artificial intelligence. For most of it, I felt like I was holding my breath in fear … the sky is falling, the world is coming to an end. Until the movie shifted to “throughout mankind there has been this fear and life has adapted to changes and continues on.” With that realization, I started breathing again … thinking regardless of what’s going on, it’s gonna be alright. Whew!
So uncross your fingers, believe in your faith and that all’s good and well.
Blessings aplenty,
