Donation Drives at LCIF

As the upcoming school year approaches, Lutheran Church in the Foothills (LCIF) has launched a dual-purpose donation drive to help students both around the corner and around the globe. To support local youth, the church is currently collecting brand-new backpacks. The backpacks will be delivered to “Making it Happen,” a Sunland-based non-profit organization, which will distribute them directly to local families in need this fall.

Alongside the backpack initiative, LCIF is gathering general school supplies intended for international distribution to help children in need worldwide. Items needed are Pink Pearl-style erasers, unsharpened pencils, blue and black ink pens, small crayons (box of 24 colors) and blunt tip scissors. Donations can be dropped off at Sunday service or left at the church office.
    
In addition to its school supply collection, LCIF presented a monetary gift of $1,000 to Tierra del Sol. The charitable organization, also based in Sunland, provides workforce training and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Tierra del Sol was recently selected as LCIF’s new provider for on-site janitorial services, furthering the foundation’s mission of creating meaningful employment opportunities for the developmentally disabled.

Summer worship at LCIF begins at 10 a.m. each Sunday. Children’s Church takes place at the same time and includes a Bible lesson, snack, games and crafts. All are welcome.

CSL Offers Gentle Movement Class

The Center for Spiritual Living – La Crescenta is offering a gentle stretch and relax chair movement with Michelle Gillette. It takes place every Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. The cost is a $10 donation.

The class is at Chaffee Hall in the Center for Spiritual Living – La Crescenta.
