LCIF Welcomes Community
On Sunday, May 11 at 10 a.m., Lutheran Church in the Foothills (LCIF) will hold a special worship service celebrating mothers and mothering figures.
The service will offer a time for reflection and gratitude for all who nurture and care for others. Recognizing that Mother’;s Day can be a complex day for some, the service will also provide a supportive space for those with strained relationships, those experiencing infertility, and those grieving the loss of loved ones. Prayers and moments of remembrance will be incorporated into the service, offering solace and comfort.
In addition, LCIF announced that one of its own members will be
participating in the upcoming La Cañada Interfaith Baccalaureate service. Mona Dillard, a graduating senior and active member of the church, has been selected to read Scripture during the ceremony. The baccalaureate service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 7 p.m. at St. Bede The Venerable Church, 215 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge.. The annual event celebrates the graduating seniors from local high schools and offers a moment of reflection before their
commencement. All members of the community are invited to attend this unifying service. The keynote speaker for the evening will be La Cañada Unified School District Superintendent Wendy Sinnette.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.

All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
