LCIF Welcomes Community
Lutheran Church in the Foothills invites the community to its
Wednesday evening soup suppers throughout the season of Lent. Each Wednesday evening at 6 p.m., the church hosts a warm and welcoming meal in its fellowship hall. Guests can enjoy a hearty bowl of homemade soup, accompanied by fresh bread and dessert. At 7 p.m., all are invited to join Pastor Rick Hall for a worship service in the sanctuary. Pastor Hall will share
reflections on the Lenten season.
Lent is a 40-day period during which Christians remember the
events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ. Lent is a time of reflection and of asking for forgiveness. Ultimately, it is a preparation to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection at the feast of Easter.
LCIF will have a soup supper each Wednesday though April 9. LCIF also reminds the community that it continues to collect gently used clothing and non-perishable food for those in need. Donations can be dropped off during Wednesday evening and Sunday morning worship services.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details, including small group gatherings and opportunities to serve. For more information or to request/offer help, email, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd in La Cañada Flintridge. Office Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Her journey, recently published by Adelaide Books (NY/Lisbon), titled “And So I Walked” recounts both the challenges of completing a long-distance hike as well as the emotional and spiritual undercurrents her time on the trail revealed. Copies of her book will be available for sale and signature following the service. In person on March 16 at 4451 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta or visit the UUCVH website for the ZOOM link https://www.uuverdugo.org/.
Walk and Word
Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on March 20 & 27. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.
Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.
All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
