4200 block of Oakwood Avenue in La Cañada, two chainsaws and a leaf blower were stolen from locked tool boxes on a truck between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
400 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a man reported that he had placed at his feet a black bag containing an iPad and iPad case while he was sitting at the location. After about an hour he looked down and noticed the bag and its contents were missing. Deputies reviewed the nearby surveillance footage and witnessed the victim’s black bag on the floor next to his feet. The victim switched to an adjacent table, leaving the black bag at the first table. The surveillance revealed two small children playing near the table. One of the children picked up the black bag off the floor and took it to a male adult who was sitting at another table.
The man left the location with the children, an unidentified woman and the bag at 1:30 p.m.
500 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, an employee at T-Mobile reported that she and a co-worker were at the front counter of the store helping two customers when a man walked into the store. The man, later identified as the suspect and described as a male black in his 20s wearing a gray hooded sweater, did not look at the employees but retrieved a compact sledgehammer from his pants pocket and began to break the iPhone display cellphone holders. He then grabbed each of the cellphones and forcefully pulled on the security lanyard to release each cellphone. He walked out with four iPhones. During the incident the employees and one female customer walked to the back wall of the store to stay far away from the suspect; a male customer exited the store during this time. After a short while, one of the employees exited the store and was approached by the customer who left the store who was able to give a description of the direction the suspect went after he left the building. The employee then contacted another witness who said the suspect had entered a dark color vehicle.
The incident occurred at 5:20 p.m.

4500 block of Rockland Place in La Cañada, a vehicle registration sticker, key, registration letters and change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.
