A social media post on Tuesday has had a lot of parents, and community members, concerned about possible robberies at the Ralph’s Marketplace in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard.
According to the post, up to 15 students from Rosemont Middle School were the victims of robbery by six to eight students from Crescenta Valley High School.
“We have found no victim and no one will talk to us,” said Lt. Mark Slater, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Dept.-Crescenta Valley Station.
Slater said the station received a call Tuesday from a third party stating that s/he knew at least one of the students who had been robbed. The caller did not want to get involved and would not give a name of the victim, his/her grade or any information concerning the alleged crime.
The incident allegedly occurred after school near Starbucks, which is located in the Ralphs Marketplace. Social media reported suspects robbed students of jewelry, hoodies and wallets.
CVW interviewed nearby businesses; none of the employees, including those at Starbucks, witnessed anything. The security guard at the nearby bank, who is stationed at the sidewalk and often walks to the front of Starbucks when Rosemont students are present, stated that he was outside at the time of the alleged robberies and saw nothing. In fact, he had spoken to several of the students in front of the bank and the coffee shop and no one mentioned anything was amiss.
School principals, the school resource officer and administrative staff at CVHS and Rosemont Middle School were made aware of the possible crime and are investigating.
“We take these types of accusations very seriously,” said CVHS Principal Linda Junge.
The school administrators are conducting an investigation and will act swiftly if any information comes forward about the incident.
“If someone wants to come forward with information, we will take the call,” Slater said.
An effort was made by CVW to contact the person who made the original social media post; however, as of press time Wednesday, no one responded to our request.
