Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
The next Rosemont Preserve restoration day is Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. Plans include more invasive plant removal along with some trail maintenance. There will also be guided tours of the Preserve.

The Preserve is located in La Crescenta at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. Parking is available at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave., two blocks before the preserve.

Those who plan to attend should wear sturdy shoes, comfortable work clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended.) Also consider bringing shovels, spades, loppers, hatchets or clippers. Other tools and equipment will be available.

Sing-A-Long at St. Luke’s of the Mountains
St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church congregation invites the public to its annual Christmas Community Sing-A-Long and Holiday Jam on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The iconic stone church has sat at the corner of Rosemont Avenue and Foothill Boulevard for over a century. The stones that built the church come from the local mountains.

St. Luke’s of the Mountains is located at 2563 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.

Unincorporated Areas to see Increase in Patrols
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved increased law enforcement services for the county’s unincorporated areas.

On a motion by Mayor Michael D. Antonovich, the board allocated $7.3 million for 67 sworn positions for the unincorporated areas – 25 will be deployed to Altadena, Santa Clarita, Antelope and Crescenta Valleys.

State BOE Moving to Glendale
The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) will be moving its Van Nuys District Office to 505 N. Brand Blvd., Suite 700
in Glendale on Dec. 15.

The new location offers taxpayers easy access to Highway 134 and Interstate 5, and an improved customer service lobby with self-service kiosks.

The Van Nuys District Office will close permanently on Friday, Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. The new office will open for business on Monday, Dec. 15 at 8 a.m.
