Crescenta Valley Water District (CVWD) applied for and was awarded a planning grant funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to develop a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) in response to the federal mandates in the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-390).
During this process, local residents and officials from neighboring agencies will be contributing by sharing their local knowledge of the area’s vulnerability to hazards relative to maintaining water and sewer services and by suggesting ways the District can mitigate damages during a disaster event.
CVWD has formed a steering committee made up of local stakeholders who will provide input and an overview of the plan’s development and outreach. Information on the steering committee can be found on CVWD’s website.
CVWD is asking customers to participate in a brief survey to assess what issues are most important to customers, where they get their information and how informed they are on CVWD’s mitigation and preparedness efforts relative to a disaster event in the Crescenta Valley. All feedback will be reviewed by a steering committee and will be posted on the CVWD website.
Survey results will also help the District improve its communication efforts to the community to minimize the risk and impacts of these hazards to residences and businesses.
For those who would like to take the survey, it is available on the CVWD website www.cvwd.com.
