UPDATE ON CREEK FIRE AS OF TODAY (FRIDAY) 6 a.m.:
The Creek Fire is now 40% contained with an expected 100% containment on Dec. 23. As of Friday at 6 a.m., there have been 33 residences destroyed, 32 other structures destroyed, 28 residences damaged and 19 other structures damaged. The Creek Fire destruction is at 15,323 acres.
There are 217 fire engines working the fire, nine water tenders, nine helicopters, 54 hand crews and 16 dozers.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The winds still continue across the San Gabriel Mountains Range and Creek Fire area. The Angeles National Forest has elevated its fire danger level to Extreme. Fire restrictions are now in effect throughout the forest to include: no campfires and no open flame, no barbecues or grilling. These are the restrictions as of now; however, more restrictions may be added throughout the day.

Update on Creek Fire as of 10 a.m.
The wildfire is at 12,605 acres burned and is at 10% containment. There are 2,500 structures threatened, 15 structures destroyed and 15 structures damaged.
That number of structures damaged and destroyed may change as crews are still assessing the damage, said Maria Grycan, spokeswoman Los Angeles County Fire Dept.
The fire is being fought with a Unified Command force of 1,686 personnel in addition to seven water tenders and three helicopters.
According to a Thursday morning update from the Unified Command, the fire will “continue to impact multiple communities in the immediate area including: Santa Clarita, Glendale, Olive View, Lake View Terrace, Sunland, Shadow Hills, Sylmar, Pacoima, Lopez Canyon and Kagel Canyon.”
Santa Ana winds are expected to continue with gusts between 50 and 70 miles per hour and extremely low humidity so, as LACoFD Chief Daryl Osby said in a previous interview, it is important for everyone in the area, including Crescenta Valley residents, to stay alert.
Mandatory evacuations have been issued north of the Foothill (210) freeway from Glenoaks Boulevard to Haines Canyon Avenue. South of the 210 freeway, west of Sunland/Stonehurst and north of La Tuna Canyon Road. Mandatory evacuations include portions of communities of Kagel Canyon, Lake View Terrace, Sunland, Sylmar, Pacoima, Lopez Canyon and Shadow Hills.
