Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Morning
All are invited to the first of two monthly “open gates” at the Rosemont Preserve on Sunday morning, Dec. 2. This is a chance for guests to visit the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace, enjoying the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. Photographers: Bring your camera to capture the early morning light and citizen scientists, bring your iNaturalist app to add to the wildlife sightings.
The gate will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Please wear sturdy shoes to walk the trail.
Special Event Draws Attention
A dedication of the recently completed medians along Foothill Boulevard takes place on Monday morning, Dec. 3, at 10 a.m. at Briggs and Foothill. A lighted sign on Foothill Boulevard notifies residents and business owners of this special event.
All are welcome to attend.
La Crescenta Christmas Tree Lighting
The 4th Annual La Crescenta Christmas Tree Lighting takes place on Tuesday evening, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library. Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with a puppet show for children followed by live music at 5:15 p.m., free photos with Santa at 5:30 p.m., cookies and cocoa at 6 p.m. and singing and the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.
This is a free event.
The La Crescenta Library is located at 2809 Foothill Blvd.
Glendale Narrows Riverwalk Bird Watching
The annual Glendale Narrows Riverwalk bird watching trek is on Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. along the Los Angeles River in the City of Glendale. The leader for the morning is Alexander deBarros from the San Fernando Valley Audubon Society.
This is a rare opportunity to spend time watching the birds that are on the river during the fall and winter months. Please bring binoculars and camera to view and capture photos of these fine-feathered friends. Participants are asked to wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, long pants, hat and

Local Restaurant Temporarily Closed
Pepe’s Mexican Restaurant on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose has been temporarily closed due to a violation of a health and safety code, according to a sign posted on its front door. It is expected to reopen on Friday.
