2600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a 24-year-old La Crescenta woman was arrested for petty theft, shoplifting from Ralphs market. The woman entered the store about 6 a.m. She took a shopping cart and began walking around the store occasionally putting items in the cart. She spent a couple of hours walking around the store until she finally walked out with the cart without attempting to pay. The store manager, who had been watching her the entire time, confronted her in the parking lot and asked her for the receipt, which she did not have. They went back into the store and the manager called the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The woman reportedly told the deputy that she knew she had done a “bad thing” and had not originally intended to shoplift; however, as she walked through the store she started thinking that maybe she could just walk out with the merchandise. She didn’t realize the manager was watching her.
The woman was cited and released at 9 a.m.
2100 block of Crescent Avenue in Montrose, a purse with credit cards and personal items was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The owner reported her credit cards stolen and was told that three transactions had been charged to her card, all in Woodland Hills.
The theft and transactions were done between Nov. 22 and 23.
Nov. 21
2700 block of Stevens Street in La Crescenta, several items were stolen from a home after a resident returned home to find the window of the front door of his residence shattered. He discovered that someone had gone through the resident’s filing cabinet and stole documents along with jewelry.
The resident reported as he approached his home he noticed a four-door sedan parked in front of the residence. A person described as a male, black, 30 years old, 140 pounds and wearing a black shirt was sitting in the driver’s seat. He appeared to be speaking on a cellphone. The resident parked his vehicle and entered his home through the garage door then noticed the damaged front door.
The burglary occurred between 10:50 a.m. and 11:05 a.m.

Gould Avenue and Knight Way in La Cañada, a 28-year-old Canyon Country woman was cited for suspicion of possession of cocaine and driving on a suspended license after a routine traffic stop at 2:46 p.m.
