Turkey Trot Sign-ups, Sponsorships Available

The 21st annual Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge Turkey Trot will take place at Memorial Park on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 27 starting at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Kids’ Mile at 9:30 a.m. The 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Mile has been a local tradition and a community favorite with families, athletes, and community supporters of all types for two decades.

The presenting sponsor of the community-wide event for the third consecutive year is Ross Stores, Inc. Other sponsors include Huntington Hospital, the City of La Cañada Flintridge, Sport Chalet, NASA Services, La Cañada Valley Sun, Allen Lund Company, Dunn Edwards, Extreme Boot Camp, CV Weekly, Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists, Montrose Travel, Cordoba Corporation, TJMaxx, Inverselogic, Current Electric, EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, Total HR, County of Los Angeles, Dentistry for Children, Islamic Congregation of La Cañada Flintridge, Deb Jordan, Citizens Business Bank, New York Life, Bob Smith Toyota, Gelson’s, Blaze Pizza, Los Gringos Locos, McDonalds, Slater’s 50/50,  Trader Joes, Sprouts Farmers Market, Clif Bar, Starbucks and Panera Bread.

The most important part of the event is the food drive. The community center partners with the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station to collect food for families who struggle during the holidays. NASA Services provides the necessary collection bins for the food collection locations and moves all of the food to a warehouse owned by Bob Smith Toyota for sorting for the holidays. Last year over 150 families were assisted.

Participating schools include Paradise Canyon, La Cañada Elementary, 7-8 & 9-12, Palm Crest and Monte Vista. The CCLCF is also grateful to the members of the community who have dropped food off every year. Non-perishable goods can be dropped off at the community center at 4469 Chevy Chase Drive until Wednesday, Nov. 26. Register for the run at www.TurkeyRun21.eventbrite.com.
