On Nov. 15 just before 7 a.m., officers were dispatched to a hotel on the 1100 block of North Brand Boulevard regarding several gunshots heard on the fourth floor. Multiple people reported hearing shots and yelling. A male was seen leaving the parking lot in a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located several spent casings, a shattered glass door and a bullet hole in the area of the crime scene. Officers reviewed video surveillance footage and were able to see a male remove a handgun from his person, discharge the handgun several times at the ground and into a vacant room, then leave in a vehicle.
A few minutes later, officers received a call of a collision at the intersection of Brand Boulevard and Eat Mountain Street where a vehicle had crashed into a building; witnesses stated the driver fled on foot.
Officers responded to the collision and found a vehicle matching the one they had seen on the surveillance video that the suspect entered.
Officers located the male, identified as 25-year-old Vardges Petrosyan of Glendale, and detained him without incident.
Petrosyan was subsequently arrested for illegal discharge of a firearm.
No one was struck by gunfire during this incident.
