On Monday, Nov. 14 at approximately 8p.m., the Glendale Police Dept. responded to the 2200 block of Cañada Boulevard in the City of Glendale to a call of a residential explosion/structure fire.
Responding officers and firefighters located the fire in the backyard area of the residence and determined the origin of the fire stemmed from an illegal honey oil lab which ignited. A sophisticated marijuana grow and a large amount of the finish product was also discovered at the scene.
This incident prompted the response of narcotic investigators along with a lab squad unit from the Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force (LA IMPACT) and the response of the Los Angeles County Health Hazardous Materials division. As a result of this type of response, the location of the incident has been rendered safe.
Two 21-year-old males from Glendale were detained at the scene and are being investigated. One of them was transported to a local hospital with burn injuries to his lower extremities. The other uninjured male was arrested for the manufacturing of a controlled substance.
