LASD Deputies Assisting U.S. Forestry Service in MarekFire, ANF

Today,  Monday, Nov. 14  at approximately 5 a.m. Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station deputies responded to a “smoke investigation” in the 13300 block of Little Tujunga Canyon. Upon their arrival, deputies encountered a small brush fire.

Los Angeles County Fire Dept. along with Los Angeles City Fire Dept. were actively engaged in extinguishing the fire.  The overall command of the fire was relinquished to the United States Forestry Service.

As of 9 a.m. the LASD Montrose Search and Rescue Team was assisting in voluntary evacuations, as efforts to extinguish the fire continued. Approximately 20 acres have been affected, as the fire moved in a southerly direction.  There was “zero” containment as of 9 a.m.

Crescenta Valley Station deputies remained on scene in efforts to provide security for the affected residents and their property.

With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, traffic in and out of the affected areas was being monitored as there are no road closures at this time.

All residents are asked to remain vigilant and ensure they are prepared for mandatory evacuations.  You are reminded to bring medications, important documents, and emergency supplies in the event you are away from your residence for a prolonged period.
