The City of La Cañada Flintridge contracts with the County of Los Angeles to provide building and safety services. This allows the city to utilize the employees and expertise of the much larger county department when processing projects in the city.
Earlier this month, the County of Los Angeles presented to the LCF City Council the Building and Safety Electronic Plan Check System that will soon be implemented by the City’s Building and Safety Division of the Community Development Dept.
By the end of the month, applicants wishing to build in the city will be able to submit plans and other related documents online. After submission, projects will be queued for review and processed through the plan check system electronically. The applicant will receive notifications via email at every milestone throughout the process and can check the progress of their submission at any time online.
Not only will the end user be able to skip trips to the counter at City Hall, but the entire system will be paperless, saving vital resources and reducing cost.
“Making the plan check process electronic is going to increase efficiency and enhance the overall experience for the end user,” said Community Development Director Robert Stanley of the implementation of the system. “We are very excited to see the benefits of the system that the County of Los Angeles is implementing.”
During this period of transition, applicants can still submit plans in person at the Building and Safety Division Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at City Hall.
