On Friday, Nov. 6 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had a headlight out in the area of New York Avenue and Montrose Avenue. The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 19-year-old Jason Chinchilla of Sunland, regarding the violation. Chinchilla did not have identification on him and told officers he was unlicensed. Chinchilla also admitted he had marijuana and alcohol in the vehicle.
Officers had Chinchilla along with the two passengers, 18-year-old Diego Erazo and a juvenile, exit the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded unregistered black revolver, marijuana, alcohol, spray paint cans, markers and stickers with pre-printed monikers on them. Officers noted these same monikers had been spray painted on city property at a local park during a recent vandalism.
All three males were arrested and booked for being in possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of vandalism tools. The juvenile was released to a parent with a notice to appear in court shortly after being booked.
