Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s deputies/detectives arrested two Pasadena men on Tuesday suspected of committing several
vehicle burglaries in La Crescenta.

Emanuel Hernandez, 18, and Javier Cervantes, 18, both of Pasadena, were arrested just before midnight on Tuesday evening after a witness reported seeing two men attempt to burglarize a neighbor’s vehicle.

“The witness called the [Crescenta Valley] station,” said Sgt. Ray Harley.

The witnesses reported hearing a car alarm in his neighborhood, in the 2400 block of Janet Lee Drive. He went to his front yard and saw a man who appeared to be breaking into his neighbor’s vehicle.

“He yelled at the man who ran off,” Harley added.

Deputies responded to the call of attempted burglary and sent out a call describing the vehicle from the information obtained from the witness.

The car was stopped on Ocean View Boulevard just before the Foothill (210) freeway.

After an investigation they allegedly found tools including a screwdriver and other pry tools, a knife, flashlight and two cellphones. They also found a AAA card that was not in the suspect’s name, and a bicycle.

There had been several vehicle burglaries in the La Crescenta area over the weekend. Investigators suspect the two Pasadena men may have been involved in several of those burglaries.

The investigation is ongoing.
