A Word of Warning
I’ve been driving for well over 40 years and confess here that I have a lead foot. Thankfully it’s not overly heavy and, in fact, I hadn’t been tagged for speeding ever. That recently changed, though.
While heading back from a chamber of commerce meeting one afternoon, traveling south on Pennsylvania as it curves onto Honolulu, I was going faster than the posted speed limit and, before I knew it, there were red and blue flashers behind me belonging to a Glendale PD motorcycle officer.
Officer Bolton (first initial M – not Michael but Matt; brother Michael – not the singer – is a firefighter in northern California) popped me for speeding. I’m happy to report that he was not a jerk at all and asked that I keep my speed down because “I was a nice lady” and he didn’t want to see anything bad happen to me.
While I appreciated his friendly attitude, afterward I wondered why he didn’t just give me a warning. Is that not done any more? Being a middle-aged woman who lives in the neighborhood, a warning would have gone a long way to thwart future speed-demon behavior.
I’m just curious. I’ll be sending a check in the next few days to pay my fine, but I thought I’d throw the question out there.
_______________
While speeding when driving might be my nemesis, driving while intoxicated is not. That is why I put on comfortable shoes for last Saturday’s Wine Walk that took place in Montrose. The Montrose Shopping Park Assn. hosted the event that kicked off the holidays and I couldn’t have had more fun. My best friend Amy was my date for the evening and we learned much about the merchants that Ocean View Boulevard and Honolulu Avenue hosts. The only drawback? I didn’t have enough time to visit them all!
I’ll share with you next week some photos of the fun time in the Montrose Shopping Park.
