2200 block of Richey Drive in La Cañada, an iPad, backpack, purse and tap shoes were stolen from an unlocked vehicle between midnight and 7 a.m.

600 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a Chromebook and several sports related items, including baseball equipment and school backpacks, were stolen from an unlocked vehicle while its owner was eating dinner at 4:45 p.m.

400 block of Richmond Road in La Cañada, the driver’s side rear passenger window was smashed and a charging cable for a cellphone and vehicle owner’s manual were stolen between midnight and 6 a.m.
2300 block of Del Mar Boulevard in Montrose, a messenger bag containing personal items was stolen from a vehicle overnight.

Angeles Crest Highway and Green Lane in La Cañada, a 22-year-old Rosemead man and a 25-year-old Alhambra man were arrested for engaging in a speed contest and for having a modified emissions system on a vehicle. A deputy reportedly noticed the two vehicles driven by the men had stopped while traveling southbound on the Crest. After being stopped for a few seconds, the vehicles began to rev their engines. One vehicle was in the number one lane; the other was in the number two lane. Both vehicles traveled southbound, the noise of their engines getting louder as they approached the patrol vehicle. When they saw the deputy, they began to slow down.
The deputy made a traffic stop and discovered that both vehicles had modified exhaust systems. The incident occurred at 1a.m.
