In brief

Lions Club Holding Food Drive

On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Crescenta Valley Lions Club is hosting a food donation drive to support the Bailey Center of Tujunga. The Bailey Center, which serves over 1,000 individuals weekly, is in desperate need of non-perishable food items.

The food drive will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 2563 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta. The Bailey Center requests non-perishable food items including dry pasta, cereal, oatmeal, canned fruits and vegetables, canned soups and granola bars. Monetary donations are also accepted and appreciated to help the Bailey Center keep shelves stocked for the community. One local seventh grade student has already brought 16 bags to the Bailey Center. According to her father, the student recently had a birthday party and asked attendees to bring food for the Center.

For more information on the food drive or the mission of the Crescenta Valley Lions Club, please send an email to lions91214@gmail.com.

The gate will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions and present this community resource.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those with mobility issues who require a closer parking spot should contact the Rosemont Preserve Committee.

Those planning on walking the trails should wear sturdy shoes and bring water to drink.
