LASD Responds to Crescenta Valley High School Following Multiple Reports of a Gunman on the Campus

The Incident resulted in a detention of one student, with a replica rirearm. LASD confirms no threats to school.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., LASD Crescenta Valley Station deputies responded to Crescenta Valley High School, located at 2900 Community Avenue in La Crescenta, regarding multiple calls of a person seen walking into the campus with a firearm. The school was placed on lockdown.

After a quick response, deputies accessed the campus and formed a team to gather information and clear the school. Upon arrival, they utilized department resources and informants on the campus to determine the subject seen was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps – JROTC – with a replica firearm. The subject was detained on campus, positively identified, and determined not to be a threat.
