UPDATE La Crescenta Teen in Fatal Car Crash

The family of the fatality in last night’s auto accident contacted CV Weekly to release their daughter’s name. Christine Martinez was a 17 year-old-student at Crescenta Valley High School. A memorial is pending.

There will be a vigil/gathering at the Fire House youth center at 2563 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be adult mentors on-site.

Los Angeles Police Dept. Traffic Division responded to a fatal solo car crash at 10:20 last night in the 9100 block of north Tujunga Canyon Boulevard. When officers arrived they found a 1998 Ford Escape had rolled over the bank of the road.

“Summer Solomon, 18, the driver, lost control of her vehicle and rolled over [the bank]. There were three passengers in the car. One passenger was ejected. That passenger was a fatality,” said officer Hammers, LAPD Traffic Division.

Solomon is a La Crescenta resident. She and the remaining passengers were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover. The name of the fatality is being withheld by the L.A. County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the family.
