CVCA Meets Tonight
Crescenta Valley Community Association will have its monthly meeting tonight, Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Included on the agenda is an update on the proposed project at 3411-3437 Foothill Boulevard (at the northwest corner of New York Avenue).

Movie Night Planned, Trick-or-Treat Village Available
The County of Los Angeles Dept. of Parks and Recreation – North Agency rescheduled its Noche Latina in the Parke, a movie night at Crescenta Valley Park, to Saturday evening, Oct. 29.
This free night of entertainment includes the screening of “The Legend of Zorro” starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The movie begins at 7:15 p.m.; however, beginning at 6 p.m. free tacos and donuts will be available for the first 100 people.
The movie will be shown at the large field behind the main office at CV Park. Participants can bring a picnic dinner, chairs, blankets and jackets.
Also on Saturday, Oct. 29 a Trick-or-Treat Village will be at CV Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes carnival games, pumpkin carving, music and candy! Free to attend.

All Welcome at Car Rally
A car rally is being held on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to 1(ish) p.m. (following lunch)!
This scenic and curvy excursion across Los Angeles culminates at a historical luncheon site. Bring a navigator to find the clues along the way. “Unbelievable” prizes will be awarded!
Participants will meet at the Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St. in Glendale at 9 a.m. sharp for instructions, quizzes, shirts and car inspection. A release waiver will need to be signed. Be sure to have a full tank of gas!
The cost is $35 per car (includes two Rally* shirts – be sure to include sizes when RSVPing.) No host lunch at an infamous location!
RSVP to Susie Dell at Lsdell66@gmail.com. Indicate the following the email: names/number of participants so a lunch count can be provided; shirt sizes (two included in Rally fee of $35); form of payment – checks payable to Glendale Kiwanis Foundation, cash and evoice CC payments accepted.
Those who cannot participate in the Rally but would like to be a $250 Roadie Sponsor can contact Dell. Rally proceeds will be donated to the Glendale Kiwanis Foundation.
Applications Accepted for Toy Distribution
The Salvation Army – Glendale/Burbank is accepting applications on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for people wanting to apply for Christmas toys for their children ages 0-11. Applicants need to bring photo ID of parents in the household, kids’ birth certificate/s or school records and proof of address (a utility bill, for example). Toys will be distributed to children on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Salvation Army facility, 320 W. Windsor Road in Glendale.

City of Glendale Composting Event
The City is hosting its second free compost giveaway on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring a sturdy container, shovel and gloves for this self-serve event. See attached flyer for details. Questions? Email recycle@glendaleca.gov.
The compost pickup is at Parking Lot 30, 1255 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale, which is located near Glendale Community College and south of Mountain Street.
NWGHA Hosting Shredding Event
The Northwest Glendale Homeowners Association is hosting its annual Shredding Day on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot behind Grandview Presbyterian Church, 1130 Ruberta Ave., between Glenoaks and Fifth Street.
Everyone is welcome to watch their confidential papers and documents destroyed by the professional shredding truck. NWGHA members get three boxes free and then it is $7 per box thereafter. Non-members pay $7.
Northwest residents who join at the site, or for those in arrears who pay to rejoin, will receive the member discount. Membership is $25 per year.
