On Sunday, Oct. 18 at approximately 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Trader Joe’s on the 2400 block of Honolulu Avenue regarding a robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, the suspect had already fled the location and was not located by responding officers.
Witnesses inside of Trader Joe’s stated at approximately 8:50 p.m., a male Black, approximately 5’8” tall with a thin build, entered the store wearing a black hoodie (with the hood on his head), a black face covering and black jeans. The suspect approached an employee, opened a bag revealing a handgun and told the employee, along with another nearby employee, to open the safe inside the business. The employees walked the suspect to the safe. Once near the safe, the suspect took hold of the handgun and had one of the employees put money from the safe into the suspect’s bag.
Approximately $1,500 in cash was taken. The suspect then fled the store; unknown vehicle/s involved.
