A reminder that Crescenta Valley borders the Angeles National Forest was given when a homeowner in Briggs Terrace discovered a bear in his backyard on Saturday. The large bear, estimated to be about 250 to 300 pounds, slowly walked around the yard and then left.

Residents are reminded to keep all pet food inside their homes and place garbage cans on the curb in the morning for pick up, not the night before scheduled pick up, and to keep pets inside at night.
