Bears Roaming La Crescenta Neighborhoods

The mama and baby bears were safely tranquilized and safely  transported back to the Angeles national Forest.

According to Sgt. Walker of the CV Sheriff’s Station, the mama bear and baby bear have been located in the 2400 block of Cross Street. U.S. Dept. of Fish & Wildlife is on scene. Their plan is to tranquilize the two bears and return them to the Angeles National Forest where they will be released.

Traffic on the block may be restricted while the bears are being dealt with.

Helicopters are not from LASD but are news media.

 

UPDATE: The search for the mama bear and her cub continue as LASD deputies sweep towards Angeles National Forest. The Department of Fish and Game is assisting in the search as well. Until the bears are located, keep doors closed and pets inside.

Around 11:49 a.m. this morning (Friday), a mother bear and her cub were sighted in the yard of a home in the 2500 block of Cross Street in La Crescenta. Officers from Animal Control and deputies from the CV Sheriff’s Station are on scene. The goal of Animal Control officers and sheriff’s deputies is to move the pair north and back into the Angeles National Forest.
Residents in the immediate area are advised to stay inside and make sure that any small pets are also kept inside.
