Clean Up the World Event
The City Of Glendale Community Services & Parks Dept. is taking part in the Clean Up the World Weekend that encourages participants to organize an activity and to celebrate their environmental successes achieved throughout the year. The campaign theme – Our Place … Our Planet … Our Responsibility – highlights how local action taken by every community and volunteer partaking in a Clean Up the World activity has a global impact.
All are invited to Deukmejian Wilderness Park on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon to celebrate a year of success (thanks to all of the local wonderful volunteers). Since the 2009 Station Fire, there have been over 60 wilderness workdays held as volunteers cleaned and restored the park. Plan to take part in invasive weed removal and tree watering as volunteers all work together to clean up the world.
Deukmejian Wilderness Park is located at 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta.
Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Afternoon
An “open gate” event is taking place at the Rosemont Preserve on Sunday morning, Sept. 17. This is a chance for residents to visit the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace and enjoy the tranquil setting, the wildlife and the natural beauty. A map is available to guide the way. Photographers: bring your camera to capture the morning light.
The gate will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Friends of the Rosemont Preserve Committee members will be available to answer questions and present this community resource.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those planning on walking the trails should wear sturdy shoes.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels. Sorry, no pets please.
