The man accused of the felony hit-and-run death of Brandon Duplessis, 23, was sentenced on Sept. 2 in downtown Los Angeles.

Felipe Magallon, 64, was placed on formal probation for a period of two years. The terms of the agreement included: ordering Magallon to report to the Probation Dept.; seeking and maintain training, schooling or employment approved by the probation officer; maintaining residence as approved by the probation officer; keeping the probation officer advised of his residence and giving him/her contact information, according to an LA District Attorney spokeswoman. 

Magallon is also required to perform 30 days of community service for any non-profit. 

Duplessis was walking in the area of Colorado Boulevard and Broadway in Eagle Rock in the early morning hours of July 29, 2025 when Magallon, driving a vehicle, fatally struck him and then drove away.
