“We have much better news to report today but this fire is still very much alive,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti at an afternoon press conference.

The La Tuna fire is 15% contained but, according to Garcetti, the fire is growing very slowly and has been kept at 5865 acres.
“Our goal is to open up the Foothill (210) freeway by tonight,” said Los Angeles City Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas.

It could be open as early at 6 p.m.

All mandatory evacuations have been lifted in Burbank; Glendale evacuation will be lifted 6 p.m tonight and Los Angeles City mandatory evacuation will be lifted at 8 p.m.

There were four injuries, two dehydrations, minor burns today and someone who had an allegoric bee sting yesterday, he said.

Gov. Brown has declared a state of emergency, which adds to the city and county’s declarations.
The La Tuna Fire has been prioritized as the top fire in the state, Garcetti said.

“We have only had 10 people in the city of Los Angeles go into our shelters,” he added.

Of the estimated 1400 people who were evacuated in the city of Los Angeles, 90% have returned to their homes and expect 100% to return by tonight, Garcetti added.
Garcetti advised people to still stay inside due to the air qualitiy.
