Bicyclist vs Car Near CVHS

By Mary O’KEEFE

A 17-year-old boy on a bicycle collided with a vehicle on Thursday at about 7:35 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.

“It was a minor injury accident,” said Officer Lough.

A vehicle was heading southbound from a driveway on Foothill Boulevard near Cloud Avenue. The bicyclist was heading eastbound when he collided with the vehicle, he said.

“The vehicle came to a stop at the driveway,” Lough said. “The bicyclist was [riding] on the sidewalk.”

The bicyclist had small abrasions. The vehicle’s front bumper was detached.

The investigation is ongoing.

Lough advises car drivers to give themselves extra time to arrive at their destination on time. Bicyclists are advised to always wear a helmet.

“The [bicyclist] was not wearing a helmet. [The accident] could have been much worse,” Lough said.
