Joseph V. Sanchez, who is facing seven counts alleging lewd acts with children under the age of 14 and one count of possessing child pornography, was in court on Aug. 20. His preliminary hearing was continued to Oct. 27. 

The charges were filed by the office of the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

At the time of his arrest on Dec. 20, 2025, Sanchez was employed by third party contractor Covelo, and worked at several Glendale Unified School District schools as a special education assistant. 

Sanchez remains in custody with bail set at $6 million.
